This set was most probably made for someone who wanted an ensuite ensemble for a specific room,
for it is exceptional to find a corner cabinet in all four corners of a room.
Due to the narrow and elegant proportions and the tall legs of the furniture, the room need
not have been especially spacious to accommodate the commode and its four encoignures.
The lacquered panels on the side of the commode and those on the doors of the corner cabinets
all have a different flower and foliage motif and are interchangeable. The appliques are adorned with
the typical Louis Seize motifs such as vases, portraits en profil and wreaths.
